According to Smartpress.by, the world's first vertical floating solar power station was launched in Germany.
This innovative project was implemented by SINN Power company. The station was installed at the Yayis quarry located in the Starnberg district of Bavaria. This station occupies less than 5 percent of the water surface and is capable of supplying electricity to hundreds of households.
The new station's capacity is 1870 kilowatts. It produces about 2 million kilowatt-hours of energy per year. With the patented Skipp-Float technology, solar modules are installed vertically at a depth of 1.6 meters below the water surface. This solution especially increases energy production efficiency during morning and evening hours.
There are at least 4-meter water corridors between the panels, which helps to maintain air circulation, light reflection, and ecological balance. Electricity is transmitted to the grid via underwater cable and a connecting point in the area. Most importantly — no harm is caused to nature.
