India to Stop Buying Russian Oil

U.S. President Donald Trump said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has agreed to stop purchasing oil from Russia. Trump called this decision an important step toward depriving Moscow of its energy revenues.

Currently, India and China are the largest buyers of Russian oil. After sanctions from the European Union and the United States, Moscow began exporting oil at lower prices. According to Trump, Washington now plans to urge China to do the same.

The Indian embassy has not commented on the issue. Russia is currently India’s main oil supplier.

Trump said that India would implement this process gradually. Experts believe this decision could affect Russia’s economy.
