Sometimes, with the help of advanced technologies, it is possible to solve even crimes committed in the last century. Forensic medical experts in New York, USA, managed to clarify the 1984 murder case. This time, only one stick helped the investigators - the ice cream stick (Popsicle).
The tragedy occurred almost 41 years ago. An unknown individual attacked and killed 16-year-old Teresa Fusko, a resident of New York. Later, the court brought charges against three men. They were held in custody until 2003: DNA test results refuted the men's involvement in the crime.
Decades later, investigators had several hooks for re-investigation. County officials began observing 64-year-old American Richard Billado. At one point, specialists managed to retrieve the ice cream wand thrown by the man and send the find to the laboratory.
As a result, the DNA sample from saliva remains fully matched the DNA sample found in Teresa Fusko's body in 1984. Richard Bilodo was immediately arrested and later formally charged with the murder of a teenage girl. The man denies his involvement in the crime.
"Well, Mr. Bilodo, in 2025, now it's time to settle the score," said District Attorney's Assistant Jared Rosenblatt.
