On the eve of the upcoming meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with US President Donald Trump, his plans to fly to Budapest became known, Topnews reports.
According to reports, the head of state will travel to the Hungarian capital on a special Il-96-300PU aircraft. According to information confirmed by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the route for the Putin plane has already been agreed upon, but the EU airspace has been removed from this route.
Putin's plane will fly through the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Adriatic waters, partially over the territories of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. The total length of the road is about 5 thousand kilometers - almost twice as long as passing through Poland and Romania.
There are two main reasons for choosing such a route: current restrictions on the use of EU airspace and security factors. According to sources, the probability of intercepting or damaging aircraft No. 1 is assessed as high.
According to the Airlive portal, Russian fighter jets - Su-35S and Su-30SM - will accompany Putin's plane from the Khmeimim airbase in Syria to ensure security. Later, the escort was joined by Turkish F-16, Serbian MiG-29, and Hungarian JAS-39 Gripen Air Force.
According to other data, partial changes to the route may be made depending on weather conditions.
At the same time, State Duma deputy Andrey Delyagin jokingly suggested "fairy tale options" for taking Putin to Budapest on Telegram.
"Let's suppose - for example, a suborbital flight or simply flying on the same plane as Trump. It would be fantastic," he wrote.
At the same time, the deputy recalled the possibility of the Hungarian government fulfilling the order of the International Criminal Court, noting that Putin's visit requires extreme caution from a security standpoint.
The meeting between Putin and Trump in Budapest is expected to take place in the coming weeks. Its main topic could be the situation in Ukraine and a new stage in Russian-American relations.
