A beauty contest among bats is being held in the USA

In the USA, an annual online competition for the most beautiful bat is held. The organizers - the Federal Bureau of Land Management - are holding a competition for the fifth time in a row to raise awareness about bats. This was reported by the Associated Press.

The bureau posts photos of the participants on social networks and asks subscribers to choose the most beautiful winged hand. This year, the competition began on October 24th, and the results will end on Halloween 31st.

Wildlife expert Emma Busk notes that there are many stereotypes and misconceptions about bats in society. "Less than 1% of the entire bat population are actually carriers of rabies, and the transmission of the disease from bats to humans is actually very low," he said.

Last year, the winner of the competition was William Shakespeare, an eared bat from Oregon (in Wusun Township).
