US President Donald Trump recently drew attention for achieving a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. He took part in negotiations between Israel and Arab states. Now he has focused on the war in Ukraine, but so far has not succeeded in this issue.
Trump planned to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest. However, the meeting was postponed indefinitely. He said he did not want to have a “wasted meeting.” This decision halted the talks between the US and Russia.
According to experts, Trump’s success in Gaza was due to his close ties with Israel. He had previously moved the US embassy to Jerusalem and supported Israel. In the case of Ukraine, however, he does not have such influence.
In recent months, Trump has met both Putin and Zelensky. However, Russia faces the threat of new sanctions, and Ukraine refuses to give up its territories. As a result, Trump’s proposals do not satisfy either side.
Trump had earlier claimed he could end the war quickly, but now admits the issue is much more complex. As disagreements between Ukraine and Russia continue, Trump’s influence is weakening.
