Kyrgyzstan declared the snow leopard as a national symbol

In Kyrgyzstan, the snow leopard is officially recognized as the national symbol of the country. The decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers, and the document was signed by Prime Minister Odilbek Kosimaliyev, local media reported.

According to the decree, the official logo of the snow leopard will now be created, and the procedure for its use will be approved separately. This initiative is being implemented within the framework of the implementation of the decree of the President of Kyrgyzstan "On Recognizing the Snow Leopard as a National Symbol."

The government emphasized that the main goal of the decision is to preserve the country's natural and cultural heritage, as well as to promote the mountain nature and ecosystem of Kyrgyzstan on a global scale through the image of the tiger.

The Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Control has been instructed to develop a plan of practical measures to protect the snow leopard population and preserve its habitat. Within the framework of this plan, tasks have been defined to combat poaching, monitor the movement of tigers, and create safe zones for them.

Also, according to the resolution, all state bodies, local self-government bodies, and various organizations are obliged to comply with the requirements of this resolution. This is considered an important step towards the formation of a culture of respect for the natural symbols of Kyrgyzstan.

The snow leopard is considered one of the most beautiful and rare predators in the world. It inhabits the mountains of Central Asia - the Himalayas, the Tian Shan, the Pamirs, and the Altai. This animal, embodying the power, tranquility, and beauty of nature, has become a sacred symbol for many peoples.

Currently, the snow leopard is found in 12 countries, including China, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Nepal, India, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. Approximately 60% of the total population of these animals lives in China.

In the International Red Book, the snow leopard is listed as a "vulnerable species." The main threats to it are poaching, the reduction of residential areas, livestock activities, and the loss of land due to road construction.

In recent years, the Kyrgyz government has been taking active measures to protect snow leopards. It was reported that special monitoring programs are being implemented in national parks and reserves, and their movement routes are being monitored using GPS trackers.

According to officials, the snow leopard has not only biological but also spiritual significance for Kyrgyzstan. It embodies the courage, freedom, and traditions of the mountain people living in harmony with nature. Therefore, the recognition of this animal as a national symbol further increases the country's respect for nature.

Thus, Kyrgyzstan has taken steps to raise the tiger to the level of a national symbol, not only to protect its ecosystem, but also to instill in future generations a sense of love and protection of nature.
