New information has emerged that Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to remain in power until 2050. This was reported by the British publication Daily Star, citing investigative journalist Ilya Davlyatchin.
According to reports, the 73-year-old Putin has made history as the longest-running Kremlin leader since Joseph Stalin and plans to maintain power for at least another 25 years. According to his plan, upon reaching the age of 97, he could entrust the governance of the country to his son, Ivan. Ivan is now 10 years old, and in 2050 he will turn 35 - it is at this age that he is likely to enter the political arena.
It is worth noting that the amendments to the Russian constitution in 2020 allowed Putin's presidential terms to be "equalized to zero." This gives him the right to remain officially in power until 2036.
Putin has already surpassed several historical leaders in terms of duration of rule: Pinochet (17 years), Kim Jong-il (17 years), Mussolini and Suharto (20 years), as well as Romanian leader Nicolae Ceaușescu (24 years). If he serves two more terms, he could surpass dictators like Francisco Franco and Antonio di Salazar who ruled for 36 years.
Journalist Davlyatchi emphasized that Putin's intention places him among the longest-reigning political figures in modern history. If he truly remains in power until 2050, he will surpass the figures of Muammar Gaddafi (42 years), Kim Il-sung (46 years), and Fidel Castro (49 years).
If this happens, Putin will become the longest-reigning leader in Russian history after Ivan the Terrible. It is known that Ivan the Terrible was on the throne for 50 years.
While the Kremlin authorities have refrained from making official comments, political scientists are interpreting this information as a hint of Putin's new political strategy.
