Collins Dictionary announces word of the year

The UK’s famous Collins Dictionary has announced the most significant word of 2025 — this year’s word is “vibe coding,” according to the dictionary’s official website.

According to the definition, vibe coding refers to the process of writing code through artificial intelligence, where a person simply describes the task in plain language. In other words, the programmer doesn’t write the code manually but explains to the AI what result is needed, and the AI generates the ready code.

Experts have called this term “a new stage in human-technology interaction.” It has spread widely not only in Silicon Valley but also across IT communities from Europe to Asia.

The Collins editors note that vibe coding reflects how deeply artificial intelligence is entering everyday life and marks a cultural shift in the way people work.

In addition, dictionary experts mentioned that words like Labubu and slonyara were also included among the 40 most used words of 2025.

The growing popularity of this term once again shows how the boundary between humans and technology is becoming increasingly blurred.
