Airstrikes in Ukraine have intensified again since yesterday. On the night of November 18, Russian troops launched missile and drone strikes on several regions of the country. Unfortunately, these attacks again caused casualties among the civilian population.
The city of Berestin in Kharkiv Oblast received one of the most severe blows. According to the head of the regional military administration, Oleg Sinegubov, the 17-year-old girl, who was seriously injured in the missile strike, died in the hospital. Another 9 people were injured - seven were hospitalized with explosion injuries, and two experienced severe stress. Anxiety and uncertainty are growing in the region.
Peace was also broken in the city of Dnipro. Russian drones struck the station area, as a result of which several trains were delayed, and the explosion wave shattered the station windows. According to "Ukrazaliznitsya," some parts of the city were left without electricity. The regional editorial office of the "Suspіlne" television channel and the buildings of Ukrainian Radio were also damaged by this attack - the pressure on the media has increased once again.
At the same time, the head of the Russian-controlled "DPR" Denis Pushilin stated that the Ukrainian army attacked the Zuyevsk and Starobeshevo thermal power plants. According to him, serious damage was observed at both stations, and several settlements were left without electricity. The shutdown of boiler houses, filtration facilities, and utilities has put thousands of people in a difficult situation.
In the city of Zugres, where the Zuyevsk TPP is located, residents heard several explosions during the night, after which a fire broke out at the station. The electricity supply has also been completely cut off in the neighboring city of Ilovaisk. The situation is similarly dire in the settlements around the Starobeshevo TPP. We still remember that both stations became targets at the beginning of 2023.
During the night attacks on November 17, as a result of Ukrainian drones striking the energy networks of the "DPR," about half a million people were left without electricity in the cities of Donetsk, Makeevka, Gorlovka, and Yasinovataya. Although the power supply was partially restored at the end of the day, Pushilin also mentioned the possibility of planned shutdowns in the coming days.
Attacks on electrical infrastructure across Ukraine are continuing without delay. Each blow deals a major blow not only to strategic facilities, but also to the daily life, security, and mental stability of the population. And the nighttime explosions once again remind us of the cruelty of the war.
