In London, an unexpected, even ridiculous trend has emerged in recent months: thieves are returning stolen Android smartphones to their owners. The London Centric has compiled several stories based on a site analysis.
Interestingly, this "kindness" applies only to Android devices. As for the iPhone, you don't need to expect any justice. They say the thieves consider Apple smartphones more expensive and more attractive to sell on the black market.
The source cites several noteworthy events.
In the first incident, a criminal riding an electric bicycle tries to snatch a Samsung Galaxy from a passenger's hand. But after recognizing the model and learning it was an android, he threw down his phone and ran away. The apparatus is "not worth his efforts."
In the second case, the thief initially treated the passenger with friendliness, but after learning that he was using an Android smartphone, he gradually lost interest and left without taking anything.
The third incident is even more surprising: a group of eight people attacked a citizen and seized his property. However, one of the attackers returned the Samsung device to the victim and left silently, as if saying "we don't need this."
Experts attribute this to black market demand. iPhones can be sold for a lot of money, and even in their restored state, they can be sold quickly. Android smartphones are viewed as much cheaper, sometimes even worthless devices in the eyes of criminals.
In short, the current situation in London is as follows: if your phone is on Android - "wait screaming," the probability of returning is high. If there is an iPhone, unfortunately, even thieves here are principled in their choice.
