Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the peace plan for Ukraine, developed by the administration of US President Donald Trump. He emphasized that this document could serve as a certain foundation for a diplomatic settlement of the long-standing Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Putin confirmed that Russia officially received the text of the plan. However, he said that no detailed discussion with Moscow has been held so far. He cited the Ukrainian government's current disagreement with the proposed terms as the main reason.
The President emphasized:
"After the negotiations in Alaska, the American side experienced a certain pause. This is likely due to the Ukrainian side's abandonment of the previous plan proposed by Trump. After that, an updated - modernized version consisting of 28 items appeared. We have this text, we received it through communication channels. In my opinion, it can serve as the basis for a future peace agreement. However, its content has not yet been discussed in detail with us. The reason can be guessed - Ukraine does not agree."
Putin also stated that Kyiv and its European partners are still in the illusion that "Russia can be strategically defeated on the battlefield." He noted that such a position is far from the real situation, there is a lack of objective data.
This plan was previously reported by Axios. Although the document was deemed a draft, its authenticity was confirmed by both Ukrainian and US sources. The plan states that Ukraine has deep concessions regarding a number of territorial and military capabilities. Therefore, some European countries strongly oppose this proposal - in their opinion, such conditions could pose a serious threat to Ukraine's security.
At the same time, Zelenskyy expressed his readiness to work with Washington on a new plan at a technical level. He emphasized that Ukraine wants to achieve peace, but the dignity of the people and national interests must come first.
It is clear that the debates surrounding this document, which has already become a hot topic of discussion in the global political arena, will continue. Because every point, every principle directly affects the future of Ukraine and European security.
