300 schoolgirls kidnapped during Nigerian attack

Nigeria has been shaken again by the horrific kidnapping incident. According to the Christian Association, 303 schoolgirls and 12 teachers were forcibly kidnapped during the final attack on a Catholic boarding school in the country.

According to reports, the tragedy occurred on the night of November 21st in the village of Papiri, Niger. A group of unknown individuals with weapons broke into the school grounds, shot a security guard, and forcibly took people from the building. Currently, security forces are continuing to search for hundreds of schoolgirls.

After the incident, many educational institutions in the country were closed for security reasons. President Bola Tinubu cancelled his participation in the G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, due to the situation.

The problem of kidnapping in Nigeria has been escalating for years. Just a few days ago, 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped from a boarding school in the state of Kebbi, and 38 people were taken hostage after an attack on a church in the state of Kwara. In recent days, the theft groups have been demanding compensation of 100 million nairs per person.

Unfortunately, armed groups operating in the northwestern and central regions of the country kidnap thousands of people and hide in vast forested areas. One of the most memorable events occurred in 2014 - the Boko Haram group kidnapped 276 girls from a lyceum in Chibok. According to Amnesty International, 82 of them have not yet been found.

In recent weeks, the situation has escalated again. US President Donald Trump stated that the government is not taking adequate action against the killing of Christians in Nigeria and even threatened to send troops. President Tinubu denied these accusations, stating that he is in control of the situation in the country.

This tragedy in Nigeria once again demonstrates the seriousness of the country's security system.
