Putin: Russia ready to provide uninterrupted fuel supplies to India

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moscow will continue to provide India with stable and uninterrupted fuel supplies in order to support the rapidly growing economy of that country. He stated this after his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Putin said that cooperation in the energy sector is successfully developing, and that Russia has proven itself to be a reliable supplier for India. Trade in oil and petroleum products, as well as the processing of Russian oil at Indian enterprises, is being carried out according to plan.

In August, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India’s purchase of Russian oil. Washington also announced that similar measures could be applied to other partners of Russia.

Commenting on the situation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the country intends to protect its economic interests, even if this leads to significant expenses.

The Russian Foreign Ministry leadership stated that the U.S. tariff threats have not affected New Delhi’s position, and that India is not considering changing its plans to import Russian fuel.
