Kyiv and its European partners are soon ready to present the U.S. with “refined documents” to end the war with Russia, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said. He spoke after several days of diplomatic talks.
The Ukrainian administration is also seeking strong security guarantees to prevent Russia from attacking again if a deal is reached. Zelenskiy said new components of the deal agreed with the leaders of the UK, France, and Germany in London are ready for U.S. review.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb said partners are working on three separate documents: a 20-point main document, a set of security guarantees, and a reconstruction plan. He added that they are closer to a peace agreement than at any time since the war began.
U.S. President Donald Trump is pressuring Zelenskiy to accept a plan favorable to Moscow. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin demands Ukraine hand over the eastern Donbas region, which Zelenskiy has firmly rejected.
