Planned attacks ahead of New Year prevented in Turkey

Turkish security forces detained 115 people during operations carried out in Istanbul. They are suspected of planning attacks during the New Year holidays.

According to officials, inspections were conducted at 124 locations across the city. As a result, weapons, ammunition and documents related to planning attacks were found. Efforts to identify several more suspects are ongoing.

During the inspections, it was revealed that the individuals had contacts with radical groups abroad. The planned attacks were reportedly aimed at civilians, including holiday events.

Turkish authorities stated that ensuring security in the country remains under constant attention. All necessary measures are being taken to maintain public safety during the holiday period.
