Denmark becomes the first country to end traditional mail

Denmark has officially become the first country in the world to stop delivering paper letters, nur.kz reports. The last letter in the country was delivered on December 30, 2025.

It is reported that the development of digital technologies has brought an end to nearly 400 years of Denmark’s state postal service PostNord. Traditional letters will no longer be delivered in the country.

According to statistics, in 2024 Denmark’s postal service delivered 90% fewer letters than in 2000. For comparison, in the US the number of letters in 2024 also fell by 50% compared to 2006.

PostNord also removed and sold 1,500 mailboxes installed across the country. The proceeds were directed to charity.
