On the night of January 30, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian troops struck Ukraine with 111 unmanned aerial vehicles and one Iskander-M ballistic missile. The military noted that the missile hit the target, and 25 "strike" drones reached the target at 15 points. At the same time, the air defense managed to shoot down or "shut down" 80 drones on the way, but the attacks continued even during the day.
One of the most severe consequences was observed around Kharkiv. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the missile strike hit the warehouse of a civilian enterprise, causing a large fire on an area of more than 5,000 square meters. Sappers and more than 80 rescuers were involved in the elimination of the consequences.
It is noteworthy that discussions have intensified that these strikes occurred less than a day after the emergence of rumors about a "temporary suspension of strikes on infrastructure." US President Donald Trump stated that he had asked Vladimir Putin to temporarily halt strikes on Kyiv and other cities due to severe cold weather.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, however, confirmed the information about the temporary cessation of strikes on the energy infrastructure and positively assessed the mediation efforts, and later clarified that there was no "direct dialogue" and "signed agreement." He said that if Russia does not strike the energy sector, Kyiv will also maintain a non-response stance.
Moscow also confirmed the presence of a US-Russia dialogue in the Kremlin. Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Trump personally asked Putin not to strike Kyiv, but preferred not to disclose whether it was an "energy truce" or a more broad-format halt.
The conclusion is simple: against the backdrop of such messages, there is hope that "a truce is beginning," but the reality in the field is still harsh - drones, missiles, fires, destruction. Therefore, the most important question is: will the given promises and signals turn into a real stop or will the same scenario continue after the next short "pause."
