The Investigative Committee of Russia reported that in one of the residential buildings located on Volokolamskoye Highway in Moscow, an unknown person fired several shots at the First Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Military Intelligence of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev, and fled the scene.
As a result, the Lieutenant General was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Currently, search operations are underway to identify and detain the suspect in connection with the incident. Recording from nearby video surveillance cameras is also being checked.
According to media reports, Vladimir Alekseev's condition is serious, and doctors are fighting to save his life.
It is noted that the Lieutenant General had previously attracted public attention. In particular, he is known for appealing to the head of the private military company "Wagner" Yevgeny Prigozhin during the uprising and being with him in Rostov.
