In France, a criminal case has been opened against a man suspected of committing sexual violence against 89 underage girls in the territory of eight countries. This was reported by Le Figaro.
It is reported that for more than 50 years — from 1967 to 2022 — he committed sexual crimes. The suspect lived in France, Algeria, Switzerland, Germany, Niger and a number of other countries, and worked on a temporary basis as a teacher or as the head of youth camps.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the investigation into the case began in January 2024 in the city of Grenoble. During the investigation, a list of victims consisting of adolescents aged from 13 to 17 was compiled.
At present, 89 victims are recorded in the case, and the identities of approximately 40 of them have been established. Most of the victims filed complaints, but so far none of them has come forward as an official claimant.
The prosecutor’s office stated that the list may be incomplete and did not rule out that the number of victims could be much higher. The head of the investigation, Manto, called on the victims to give testimony as soon as possible if they are willing.
At the same time, the prosecutor recalled that the statute of limitations has expired for crimes committed before 1993. However, he emphasized that it is important for victims to provide information to the investigation in order to clarify the events and restore the overall picture.
During the investigation, two other cases of deaths connected with this person are also being examined. He admitted that in 1974 he suffocated his mother who was suffering from cancer, and in 1992 he suffocated his 90-year-old aunt with a pillow.
