American entrepreneur, founder of SpaceX and head of Tesla, Elon Musk, has once again come up on the agenda with an unexpected calculation on the social network X. He writes that the amount of taxes he will pay until the end of his life could exceed $500 billion.
Musk believes that this figure includes not only annual payments, but also tax liabilities related to inheritance/property. That is, we are talking not about a one-year payment, but about a huge sum accumulated throughout life.
For reference, in early February 2026, reports emerged that Musk had merged SpaceX and AI into a single structure. Some publications noted that his wealth increased dramatically after this deal.
Another interesting episode: in January, Musk posted that he "paid so much tax for a year that the IRS computer (really) broke," even jokingly adding that "they updated the program because there were too many numbers."
In short, Musk's words are, on the one hand, a signal that "I'm paying taxes," and on the other hand, he's hinting that with huge capital, government systems might "not fit into one format." Now the main interesting part is how long the discussion around these statements will continue.
