Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blamed Russian special services for the terrorist act that occurred in central Lviv and resulted in human casualties. As a result of the explosions that occurred on the night of February 22, a young police officer was killed, and dozens of civilians were injured.
"Killer woman" recruited via Telegram
Zelenskyy emphasized that the perpetrators of the crime were found specifically through Telegram. A 33-year-old woman living in the Rivne region has been arrested on suspicion of committing the terrorist attack. According to the investigation, he installed two homemade explosive devices near a building in the center of Lviv.
The criminals acted with extreme cunning: first, they falsely called the police and reported that a thief had broken into the building. When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, the explosions were carried out remotely. The police officer who fell victim to this terrible plan was only 23 years old.
Situation in hospitals and arrests
According to Lviv Mayor Andrei Sadovi, a total of 25 people were injured as a result of the explosion, two of whom are currently in critical condition. The woman suspected of the crime was apprehended in the border town of Stariy Sambor. A number of pieces of evidence confirming his guilt were found in his house.
Will Telegram be banned?
Against the backdrop of this incident, Irina Vereshchuk, a representative of the Ukrainian president's office, issued a sharp statement. He said that Telegram and similar anonymous platforms have become a systematic tool for recruiting and coordinating terrorists by the enemy.
"If we need to limit the capabilities of these platforms to save the lives of our people, we must take this step," Vereshchuk stressed.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian intelligence has information about the possibility of similar attacks in the future and called on the population to be vigilant.
