The US did not hide its intention to cut off Iranian oil: the threat in the Strait of Hormuz has increased

Officials in Washington have begun to openly declare their intention to "seizure" Iranian oil from Tehran. In a speech broadcast on Fox News, it was reported that Jarrod Agen (Agen), head of the US National Council on Energy Superiority, expressed a firm position in this direction.

Responding to journalists' questions about how the Middle East conflict will affect oil prices, he attempted to "reduce" concerns about the dangers in the Strait of Hormuz, explaining the main idea as follows: the US intends to deprive the Iranian leadership of oil revenues and thereby eliminate the "problem."

Sources report that against the backdrop of these statements, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz has also worsened: tanker traffic has sharply decreased, and the threat is "frozen" insurance and logistics chains. According to Reuters, following this week's tensions, there were periods when tanker traffic in the strait practically stopped, and the US side discussed the issue of maritime security.

The Financial Times, however, emphasizes the other side of the problem: as risk increases, insurance prices skyrocket, ships dock, cargo accumulates - and this puts pressure on market prices. For this reason, it was noted that the US side is also talking about a large reinsurance mechanism to revive cargo transportation through the Persian Gulf.

And experts here repeatedly say one truth: who controls oil flows - geopolitics in the region "boils" accordingly. Any disruption in exports from the Persian Gulf can have a chain-linked impact on the global energy market, fuel prices, and logistics.

In short, Washington's line of "cutting Iranian oil" is simultaneously a game between two fires: on the one hand, to reduce Tehran's monetary resources, and on the other, to prevent global prices from "scattering" due to the threat in Hormuz. For now, the biggest question is one: from whose pocket does the price of this pressure policy come - only from Tehran's or the entire market's?
