The US has officially added Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and Pakistan to the list of countries capable of attacking with nuclear weapons. This information is presented in an annual report prepared by the US government intelligence community.
The report emphasizes that these countries not only possess nuclear power but also continue to develop conventional military power. They are researching and developing advanced, new, and traditional rockets. The intelligence community predicts that by 2035, the number of missiles threatening the US will reach over 16,000, significantly exceeding the current level of over 3,000.
North Korea has successfully tested intercontinental ballistic missiles that reach the entire territory of the USA. The document also notes that China, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, and Russia continue to prioritize advanced missiles.
The intelligence community called Russia the "main problem in the Arctic." According to the report, Moscow actively supports global competition to advance regional interests. They aimed to expand their presence in the Arctic through the development of maritime trade, the extraction of natural resources, and military activity.
China, on the other hand, uses relations with Russia as a key tool for developing its strategic and economic interests in the Arctic. This further complicates global competition in the region.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump stressed the need for Greenland to ensure the country's national security. In his opinion, if this territory goes out of control, it will be controlled by Russia or China, which is a serious strategic threat.
The report and Trump's statement are an important signal for experts discussing American and global security. This situation affects the formation of not only US policy, but also the military and geopolitical landscape around the world.
