American military leaders presented Donald Trump with four key military scenarios for resolving the Iranian crisis. All these plans involve large-scale airstrikes and the deployment of troops to strategic areas.
Four major military scenarios:
- The siege of Kharq Island: The seizure or complete blockade of this center, which provides 90% of Iran's oil exports. This is aimed at bringing Tehran to its economic knees.
- Landing on Larak Island: Destroying Iranian naval drones, boats, and radar systems to regain control of the Strait of Hormuz.
- Capture of strategic islands: Securing the safety of sea routes through the capture of Abu Musa and small islands in the western part of the strait.
- Attack on nuclear facilities: A ground operation or aerial bombardment of nuclear facilities to seize high-enriched uranium reserves within Iran.
Trump's hesitation: Victory or peace?
According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump intends to end the war in the coming weeks, but he is concerned that if the war continues, losses among American soldiers will increase.
- Demonstration of Power: Some officials believe that such drastic military plans will strengthen the US position at the negotiating table and allow Trump to emerge as a "victorious hero."
- Theoretical plans: So far, the White House has not chosen any of these scenarios and calls them "theoretical."
Iran's response: Kharq Island was turned into a "fortress"
CNN reports that Tehran is anticipating a potential US attack and has established a strong defense system on Harq Island.
- Means of defense: Additional infantry, anti-tank mines, and mobile anti-aircraft missile systems (AMR) were deployed to the Aral Sea.
- Barriers: The mines and defensive lines installed along the coast are designed to make it as difficult as possible for an American landing party to land on the island.
