Trump threatens Iran with "total destruction of the country overnight"

On April 7, US President Donald Trump repeated his threats against Iran and demanded the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to ships. At a press conference at the White House, he said: "You can destroy an entire country overnight - and it could happen in the morning."
According to Trump, American troops are doing "very well" in the war with Iran. He began his conversation with reporters by telling about the success of the operation to rescue American F-15 pilots who were shot down over Iran.
He said more than 170 military aircraft took part in the operation: 21 aircraft evacuated the first pilot and 155 more rescued the second.
"I want to thank every serviceman who took part in these historic operations," he added.
On Monday, Iran and the United States said they had received proposals from Pakistan to halt military operations, but other conflicting reports emerged throughout the day. It remains unclear whether a deal is possible.
