Sudanese population forced to use water from unsafe sources due to war in the Middle East

The ongoing conflicts in the Middle East have negatively affected global markets and logistics, further exacerbating the shortage of drinking water in Sudan. Experts attribute this situation to the country's energy and fuel prices.
According to reports, the water supply in Sudan mainly relies on pumping groundwater. This process is carried out by diesel-powered generators. The increase in fuel prices has also directly increased the cost of water supply.
Against the backdrop of restrictions around the Strait of Hormuz, difficulties in fuel supply have increased, as a result of which the price of drinking water has increased by almost 30 percent. At the same time, the intense heat season is further increasing the population's needs.
Experts warn that many families are deprived of the opportunity to purchase clean drinking water and are forced to use poor-quality or unsafe sources. This significantly increases the risk of spreading various infectious diseases.
