The situation in the Middle East has once again become sharply more tense. US President Donald Trump announced the start of a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz and made a very harsh statement toward Iran. According to him, Washington does not exclude the possibility of “finishing what is left of Iran.”
It is reported that Trump stated on the Truth Social platform that the US Navy has begun the process of controlling and blocking the movement of ships entering and leaving the strait. He explained this decision by the tense situation related to regional security.
The American side accused Iran of “global extortion” and condemned the possibility of laying mines in the area of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump described these actions as a threat to global trade.
According to him, in negotiations with Iran there has been some progress on certain issues, but disagreements over the nuclear program remain. At the same time, it was stated that no agreement has yet been reached regarding the free movement of ships.
Trump said that he has ordered the US Navy to operate actively in international waters and to carry out possible mine-clearing operations. According to him, any attempts to attack American forces or civilian ships will be met with a strong response.
The President also noted that new economic pressure mechanisms are being considered regarding tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed that such conditions contradict the principle of “free navigation.”
The White House leader did not rule out that other countries may also join these operations. He stated that the US armed forces are in a high state of readiness.
Amid the escalating situation, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Iranian leadership, and that France has also expressed readiness to participate in talks regarding the regional situation.
Thus, the confrontation around the Strait of Hormuz continues to intensify, further destabilizing the global political and energy balance.
