Former US President Barack Obama has once again captured public attention with his comments on aliens. In an interview with Stephen Colbert on CBS, he emphasized that the government cannot keep information about extraterrestrials a secret for long.
According to the former president, it is very difficult to keep classified information hidden in Washington.
“That’s one of the things you realize as president. Secrets are kept very poorly in Washington,” said Barack Obama.
He believes that if the US government really had information about aliens or unidentified objects, it would be revealed sooner or later.
“I swear, some guy guarding an object would have already taken a selfie with an alien and sent it to his girlfriend,” the former president joked.
This is not the first time. Earlier this year, in a podcast interview, Barack Obama also spoke about the possibility of life in the universe.
He said that aliens might actually exist, but there is no concrete evidence that they are visiting Earth.
“They might be real, but I haven't seen them. They aren't kept in Area 51. Unless there's a huge conspiracy and they didn't even hide it from the US President, there are no underground facilities,” he said.
Later, the former president emphasized that due to the vastness of the universe, the probability of life forms existing somewhere is high, but there is no reliable information about alien civilizations in contact with humans.
For reference, Area 51 is one of the most famous secret facilities in the US. It has been at the center of various conspiracy theories for many years. In pop culture, assumptions that aliens and mysterious technologies are kept there are widespread.
Interestingly, the US Central Intelligence Agency officially acknowledged the existence of this base only in 2013.
The former president's humorous statements on this topic sparked major discussions on social media. While some took his comments as mere humor, others do not hide their belief that there are still many secrets surrounding this topic.
