An important point highlighted by the channel is that, this time, Putin did not use the phrases frequently repeated in Kremlin rhetoric about the “special military operation” needing to continue until all goals are achieved. Instead, he limited himself to hinting that the conflict could end.
However, CNN notes that the goals officially promoted by Moscow—the “demilitarization” of Ukraine and full control over Donbas—have not yet been realized. For this reason, it is unclear whether Putin’s words reflect a genuine intention to negotiate or if it is merely a political signal.
