Damas and Labo remain on the production line: is their discontinuation planned?

In response to various rumors spreading on social media in recent days, UzAuto Motors issued an official statement clarifying the situation. According to the statement, the discontinuation of Damas and Labo models is currently not being considered.

“At this time, the discontinuation of Damas and Labo models is not on the agenda. If any changes occur in our product lineup, we will provide prior notification through our official channels,” the company stated.

Damas – a model proven by time

According to available data, the Damas car production started in Uzbekistan in March 1996. An updated version was introduced ten years later, in 2006. In 2014, production moved from Andijan to Khorezm region.

Damas, being economical and accessible to the mass consumer, has strengthened its market position over the years. The production of 89.1 thousand units in 2023 and 101.9 thousand units in 2024 clearly demonstrates its continued popularity.

Affordable, reliable, and popular car – high market demand

Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced plans to invest $100 million at the Damas and Labo plant in the Tuproqqal’a district of Khorezm region to produce a new affordable and reliable model meeting market demands.

This vehicle is expected to comply with Euro-5 ecological standards and feature seven seats. Following this announcement, various speculations regarding models such as Chevrolet N400 or Wuling appeared online.

A new model is planned, but Damas remains

The press service of UzAuto Motors clarified these rumors as well:

“The new model will be selected taking into account consumer preferences and needs. Currently, models that suit local conditions and feature reliable and convenient technical parameters are being evaluated,” the statement reads.

Thus, the plan to produce a new model is confirmed, but it does not imply the termination of the Damas and Labo lineup.
