Lada Azimut crossover: panoramic roof installation process robotized

AvtoVAZ has revealed interesting details about its upcoming Lada Azimut crossover. Approximately 40 percent of these models will be equipped with a panoramic roof and an electric sunroof. This solution is expected to be one of the largest in the compact crossover segment for the Russian market. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

Due to the complex design, vehicles with a panoramic roof are diverted from the main assembly line to a special section. There, the roof module is installed in just 4 minutes using a robotic stand. The system feeds the module through the windshield opening, positions it precisely, and secures it using 6 smart nut runners.

Laser welding technology is used in the production process, which ensures the structural integrity. Also, the Lada Azimut will be the first in the world to be equipped with special heating filaments for the front side windows.

The vehicle is expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2026. Starting prices are estimated between 2.2 million and 2.5 million rubles. The model will be offered with 1.6-liter (120 hp) and 1.8-liter (132 hp) engines.

Technologically, the crossover is enriched with a GigaChat-based multimedia system, Sber services, full LED optics, and surround-view cameras. In the future, a 390 hp hybrid and all-wheel-drive version are also planned.
