Mercedes-Benz considers entering the defense market

German company Mercedes-Benz is considering entering the defense market. This was announced by the company's CEO, Ola Kallenius, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

Kallenius stated that the current global situation is becoming increasingly complex. Therefore, Europe needs to strengthen its defense capabilities, and Mercedes-Benz is ready to contribute to this process.

The company head emphasized that defense-related production would be a minor segment compared to the core passenger car and truck business, meaning it is unlikely to become a primary focus of Mercedes-Benz operations.

Previously, Der Spiegel reported that the Franco-German defense consortium KNDS is in negotiations with Mercedes-Benz to acquire a plant in Ludwigsfelde.
