Odometer tampering is now a punishable offense

In Uzbekistan, liability is being established for cases of altering and selling a vehicle's mileage. The law regarding this was approved on May 19.
According to the law, sellers who alter the odometer reading or replace the device without informing the buyer will be held administratively liable.
Such cases will be investigated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and subsequently reviewed in court. An expert report will be considered as the primary evidence.
The Code of Administrative Responsibility is being supplemented with Article 178-2. The rule will primarily apply to cases identified based on a buyer's complaint.
