Did Jaloliddin Ahmadaliyev ignore copyright law?
A court ruling has been issued in Fergana region against popular Uzbek singer Jaloliddin Ahmadaliyev. According to Kursiv.media, he has been held administratively liable for violating copyright law.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the singer used the following poems by Shohruh Abduvohidov without a contract — that is, without official permission or agreement:
1. “Yurak”
2. “Meni deb oqardi sochlaring ona”
3. “Közlaringni qizg'anma mendan”
4. “Barchasini Xudoga soldim”

Using these poems in songs without the author’s consent is considered a legal violation. An official report was drawn up, and the case was referred to court.

The criminal court of Dangara district in Fergana region reviewed the case and fined Jaloliddin Ahmadaliyev. Although the exact amount of the fine was not disclosed, the case once again drew public attention to copyright issues.

According to current legislation, if a work is used without the author's permission, the author has the right to demand compensation ranging from 20 to 1000 times the basic calculation amount. Currently, this base rate is 375,000 soums, and from August 1, it will be increased to 412,000 soums.
