Dua Lipa officially accepts Kosovo citizenship

International pop star Dua Lipa has officially become a citizen of Kosovo, according to a report by The Guardian. The citizenship was granted by a decree signed by Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani.

President Osmani personally handed Dua Lipa the citizenship certificate. The ceremony, captured in photos and shared on social media, received widespread attention. Dua Lipa expressed her deep gratitude in an Instagram post, calling the moment “unbelievable.”

“Dua, we are infinitely grateful for all you’ve done and continue to do for Kosovo, our youth, our arts, and our image on the world stage,” wrote President Osmani.

Dua Lipa was born in London in 1995 to a Kosovo-Albanian family. After Kosovo declared independence in 2008, her family returned to Pristina, where she lived until age 15 before moving back to London to pursue her music career.

It’s worth noting that in November 2022, Dua Lipa was also granted Albanian citizenship by President Bajram Begaj.
