Netflix has reportedly spent at least $400 million on the final season of the popular series “Stranger Things,” The Hollywood Reporter writes.
According to sources, each episode of the fifth season cost around $50–60 million. For comparison, during the fourth season, Netflix spent about $30 million per episode on average. Thus, the new season will become one of the most expensive shows in the company’s history.
The final season consists of eight episodes, each lasting from one and a half to two hours. The series will be released in three stages:
- the first four episodes — November 26,
- the next three episodes — December 25,
- the grand finale — December 31.
The events take place in the autumn of 1987, continuing right after the fourth season. The characters unite to find the missing Vecna and fight in the ultimate final battle.
Filming for the series was completed in December 2024. According to David Harbour, who plays police chief Jim Hopper, the ending is so moving that the actors couldn’t hold back their tears while reading the script.
