A gold pocket watch belonging to the famous businessman Isidor Strauss, who died aboard the Titanic, was sold for $2.33 million through an auction in England, held by Henry Aldridge and Son. The BBC reported this.
Isidor Strauss was one of the owners of the "Macy's" retail chain, who traveled with his wife Ida on the "Titanic." When the ship collides with the iceberg, Strauss refuses to board the rescue boat and does not leave the ship. Ida also decides to stay with her husband. In their place, the maid moves to the rescue boat.

Strauss's tragic loyalty to the couple was also featured in the 1997 film Titanic, directed by James Cameron. The film depicts them embracing as the ship sinks.
According to the auction house, this watch was found along with Strauss's body and personal belongings. The watch was later handed over to his descendants. Ida Strauss's body was not found.
