Sevinch Muminova, smiling, explained in detail the interesting story behind her name:
“My name was given by my mother. My parents were hesitating between two names: should we name her Sevinch or will it be Marjona, they said. They liked both names, so they didn’t know which one to choose. Then they made something and wrote names on two sides — on one side Sevinch, on the other Marjona. After that they threw that thing three times. Would you believe it, all three times the name Sevinch came out!”
The singer continued jokingly:
“After that, so that Sevinch would bring joy, they named me Sevinch,” she told with affection.
