Uzbek singer Samandar Khamraqulov expressed his opinion on the proposed taxes for artists through his social media platforms.
He stated: “Many artists are commenting on the law that the tax authorities have introduced or are planning to introduce. We, as artists, have never avoided paying taxes, but our main source of income comes only from weddings. We invest money, produce expensive music videos, and in most cases, these expenses are covered only through wedding performances — sometimes not even fully, leading to debt.”
The singer added: “There are artists who have been repaying debts for two or three years and still haven’t made a profit. That’s because they have no other source of income. Therefore, I believe this tax issue should be carefully calculated and thoughtfully implemented.”
According to Samandar Khamraqulov, it is important to consider the financial situation of artists and develop a fair and balanced tax policy.
