“It is not the people, but the artists who are to blame,” — Jahongir Otajonov

“It is not the people, but the artists who are to blame,” — Jahongir Otajonov

Singer Jahongir Otajonov shared his thoughts on modern music and listener tastes during an interview with journalists before his recent concert.

He was asked about the view held by some artists that “listeners are to blame for the decline in song quality.” The artist openly stated that he disagrees with this opinion.

“I have never agreed with that. Whatever my level is, the level of the people listening to my music will be the same,” the singer said.

At the same time, he emphasized that the decline in interest in Uzbek songs should be linked to the work of the artists, not the listeners. According to Jahongir Otajonov, fans are looking for high-quality and modern music.

“Many say ‘Uzbek songs are not being listened to.’ But the reason for this is not the listeners. We are failing to satisfy them,” he stressed. According to the singer, this is why many are switching to listening to foreign music.

“Music has no language,” the artist concluded.
