Uzbekistan and Jordan agree to elevate cooperation to a new level

In the Congress Center of Samarkand, a meeting took place between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein of Jordan.

The discussion focused on enhancing political dialogue, cultural exchanges, and expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting, the King of Jordan invited the head of state to visit Jordan, expressing gratitude for the warm and sincere reception extended to the Jordanian delegation.

This high-level visit, the first of its kind in the history of diplomatic relations, is seen as marking a new phase in bilateral cooperation, aiming to elevate it to a level of comprehensive partnership.

It was noted that the traditional friendship and multifaceted practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Jordan have been strengthening, with both countries pursuing similar reform strategies.

The leaders highlighted the effective collaboration within the framework of international organizations such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and emphasized the need to continue supporting each other's initiatives.

The necessity of continuing constructive dialogue between the ministries of foreign affairs of both countries and maintaining close interdepartmental ties was also emphasized.

They confirmed the readiness to increase bilateral trade indicators, implement joint investment projects, and develop trade agreements.

The cooperation was agreed to be expanded in the sectors of chemicals and textiles, smart agriculture, geology, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, tourism, and other fields.

A proposal was made to establish a Government Commission and a Business Council and to hold their first meetings by the end of the current year. The organization of a business forum between Uzbekistan and Jordan, with the participation of leading companies and manufacturers, will help establish long-term partnerships in the business circles.

It was also agreed to increase cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges, including joint cultural weeks, concerts, exhibitions, and fairs.

The people of Uzbekistan and Jordan share a long history of friendship, and today, this relationship is entering a new phase. In this regard, cooperation in studying common cultural heritage and strengthening the ties between Islamic centers and institutions of both countries was discussed.

The two sides agreed to jointly promote inclusive and enlightened Islamic values. The importance of the "Aqaba Process" initiated by King Abdullah II ten years ago was highly appreciated, with a proposal to hold one of the upcoming meetings of this important initiative in Samarkand.

The establishment of regular air travel and the introduction of a visa-free regime between the capitals of the two countries will help boost business relations and the flow of tourists.

Key global and regional issues were also discussed.

At the end of the talks, King Abdullah II invited the head of state to visit Jordan.
