In the first three quarters of this year, the official import volume of mobile phones to Uzbekistan exceeded $370 million. According to the State Statistics Committee, 3.21 million phones were brought into the country, indicating continued high consumer activity in the electronics market.
Analysis of statistical data shows a significant increase in import operations during the third quarter. From July to September, 1.33 million phones with a total value of $176.4 million were imported into the country.
These figures are considerably higher than the 1.88 million phones imported during the first half of the year. Compared to the same period last year, the import volume increased by 7.4% or approximately 220,000 phones.
The People's Republic of China continues to dominate Uzbekistan's mobile phone market. Since the beginning of the year, 2.49 million phones have been imported from China, accounting for 77.5% of the total volume.
In the third quarter alone, 1.06 million phones were imported from China, with Chinese products comprising nearly 80% of imports during this period. Vietnam secured the second place.
Over nine months, 619,200 phones were imported from Vietnam, accounting for 19.3% of the total volume. Interestingly, this figure exceeds last year’s total import volume from Vietnam.
In the third quarter, 244,100 phones were imported from Vietnam. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranked third, although the import volume from this country has significantly declined.
Over the nine-month period, 65,300 phones were imported from the UAE, representing only 2% of the total market share. Particularly in the third quarter, imports from the UAE dropped sharply to just 1,100 phones.
India, on the other hand, continues to increase its share. During the reporting period, 31,850 phones were imported from India, accounting for nearly 1% of the total market share.
In the third quarter alone, 15,400 phones were imported from India, matching the figures from the first half of the year. South Korea rounded out the top five, with 4,800 phones imported from the country.
The remaining countries accounted for a combined total of 2,200 phones. For comparison, in 2024, Uzbekistan officially imported 4.2 million phones, which was nearly a quarter higher than the previous year.
At that time, imports from Vietnam had significantly increased, while phone imports from India had tripled. The latest data demonstrates that this trend is ongoing.
