Uzbek citizens were repatriated from US immigration centers, Dunyo news agency reports.

On April 30, a special charter flight was operated from New York to Tashkent to repatriate Uzbek citizens who were in the US illegally and were included in the list of foreigners to be deported.

About a hundred Uzbek citizens, as well as a number of citizens from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, were brought to Tashkent on this flight. They were taken to their countries via the capital of Uzbekistan. As it turned out, most of these citizens had tried to cross the US border illegally and as a result had been stuck in immigration centers for a long time.

The US government expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by Uzbekistan in repatriating citizens.

"We thank Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his leadership in organizing a special flight to repatriate 131 illegal immigrants to their homeland. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with Uzbekistan to strengthen security measures and ensure the rule of law," the US statement said.
