The watermelon growing season in the Kokdala district of the Kashkadarya region is in full swing. These days, hundreds of trucks are transporting freshly picked watermelons from the region to domestic markets and export destinations.
In order to accelerate the export of products and organize all processes transparently, a special export headquarters has been established in Kokdala. 90 inspectors from the Phytosanitary Control Agency and 10 specialists from the department are working here on a 24-hour basis.
In the short period of time last week, from May 15 to May 20, the export geography of Kokdala watermelons has expanded significantly. In particular, 839 tons of watermelons were delivered to Kazakhstan and 1,437 tons to Russia. In total, more than 4,300 tons of watermelons went to domestic and foreign markets in just one week.
These indicators indicate that Kokdala watermelons are in high demand not only for domestic consumption, but also for foreign markets. For local farmers and entrepreneurs, these export volumes are noted as a significant source of economic profit.
