The new Tashkent city will have a "Petersburg neighborhood". This was reported by the capital's administration. It is noted that the Tashkent city governor Shavkat Umurzakov met with a delegation led by the vice-governor of St. Petersburg Nikolai Linchenko.
During the negotiations, the prospects for cooperation in the field of urban planning and development of urban infrastructure were considered.
It was noted that special attention was paid to the idea of building a residential and public space "Petersburg neighborhood" in the city of New Tashkent as a symbol of strengthening interregional partnership ties.
According to the vice-governor of St. Petersburg Nikolai Linchenko, the project will become part of the new city adjacent to the eastern part of the "old" Tashkent and will be implemented within the framework of a concept developed jointly with the Uzbek side.
"We are currently continuing to improve the project according to the concept developed jointly with our Uzbek colleagues. We plan to use the unique architecture and famous landmarks of St. Petersburg in the construction of the neighborhood. The investor will build the street and road network in the "Petersburg Mahalla" area. The start of construction is scheduled for 2026," Linchenko said.
He recalled that the initiative to involve specialists from St. Petersburg in the organization of the Mahalla was put forward at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2023. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the "Directorate for the Construction of the New Tashkent City" under the Cabinet of Ministers. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
