Uzbekistan may retire cars older than 40–50 years
Alisher Qodirov, leader of the Milliy Tiklanish Democratic Party and member of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, proposed an initiative that may soon be debated in parliament. The proposal calls for the gradual retirement of vehicles older than 40 to 50 years, reported UPL.uz.

“Phasing out vehicles that are 40 to 50 years old is a very reasonable idea. Even limiting the use of 25–30-year-old cars wouldn’t be a mistake, in my opinion. The key is to offer convenient options for replacement,” Qodirov stated.

He also suggested adjusting speed limits based on location, time, and necessity.

“For example, why shouldn’t drivers be allowed to go 130 km/h on highways with no nearby residential areas?” the deputy asked.
