Young driver loses control and falls off cliff

Another tragic road accident in the Fergana region has shocked not only local residents but also the general public. The Fergana Regional Department of Internal Affairs provided official information about this tragedy, which occurred on July 21 this year in the Sokh district.

The incident took place on the Sokh–Rishtan highway, specifically in the Buzhay village area of Kyrgyzstan’s Batken region. According to official data, an underage boy born in 2007, a resident of Lenbur mahalla in Sokh district — S.S., who had just turned 18, was driving a Nexia-3 car when he lost control of the steering.

At that moment, the vehicle veered off the road at high speed and fell into a steep ravine. As a result of the accident, the young driver sustained severe injuries and, unfortunately, died at the scene.

Many are now asking, “Why was he driving?”, “Why was he unsupervised?” Even though minors are legally prohibited from driving, such violations frequently occur in real life. This negligence, combined with difficult road conditions and lack of experience, often leads to such tragic consequences.

Law enforcement authorities have initiated a criminal case under Article 266, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Currently, investigative actions are underway, witnesses are being questioned, and technical examinations have been appointed.

After the incident, there has been a wave of discussions among locals. The public emphasizes the need for increased parental supervision, proper driver education for youth, and a strict refusal to let unprepared teenagers take the wheel.

In addition, safety issues on the roads — especially in mountainous and desert areas — have been brought up, including the need for improved infrastructure, warning signs, and barriers.

Once again, it has been proven that young drivers require not only legal but also ethical and moral training. Every lost young life is an irreparable loss for society.

This incident in the Fergana region should not only be seen as a tragedy but also as a lesson. Every citizen must understand their responsibility, and every family should support their children and protect them from risky actions.
