In the city of Chirchik, Tashkent region, a shocking and tragic incident ended with a court decision. The shop owner, who fatally punched a customer, has been sentenced to strict criminal punishment.
The court found him guilty under Part 3, Clause "d" of Article 104 — intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim — and also under Article 277 — hooliganism — of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
He was sentenced not only to imprisonment, but was also ordered to compensate the damage caused to the victim. According to the court’s decision, the shop owner must pay 1.6 million UZS in damages.
The incident occurred on March 5 of this year, around 7:00 PM, near a liquor store in Chirchik. At the time of the incident, the shop owner was finishing his work and rushing to close the shop.
At that moment, a man approached and asked to buy alcohol. The shop owner replied that his working hours were over and he was going home.
However, the customer persisted and repeatedly requested service, leading to an argument between them.
At some point, the dispute escalated into physical violence, and the shop owner inflicted bodily harm on the customer. Unfortunately, due to the heavy blow, the victim passed away.
Another version was spread on social media — allegedly, the man was injured while trying to protect a woman on the street and died as a result.
However, this version has not yet been officially confirmed. The Tashkent Regional Department of Internal Affairs issued a statement that the investigation into the case is ongoing.
Citizens were also urged not to spread unverified information and not to judge the situation one-sidedly.
At present, the court has made its final decision. The shop owner has been held accountable for his actions. This is not only legal liability but also a grave moral mistake in front of society.
The fact that a simple dispute between a seller and a buyer ended in death should make every conscientious person reflect.
Each of us must contribute to fostering peace, patience, and forgiveness in society. After all, one harsh word, one punch — can change a life forever.
This incident is not only a legal case, but also a moral lesson. The criminal was punished, but the person who died cannot be brought back.
