On August 8, an unusual and astonishing event took place in Baku. What began as an ordinary day for metro passengers turned into a historic moment within minutes. On the platform of the “January 20” station, a woman gave birth to a child.
According to reports, while the young mother was delivering her baby, metro staff rushed to assist her. They provided first aid and monitored the birth process until the arrival of the ambulance. Shortly after, the medical team arrived, and the delivery was carried out right at the station.
The following moments proved crucial for both the mother and the newborn. After the delivery, they were taken to the hospital. It was reported that the mother, born in 2005, was admitted to the maternity pathology department, and her condition is considered stable.
However, the baby, born prematurely at 36 weeks, is in a condition that doctors have described as unsatisfactory. The boy, weighing 2,200 grams and measuring 47 centimeters in length, was placed in the intensive care unit. He is currently under close medical supervision.
Local sources report that the baby born in the metro will be granted the status of a “special passenger.” This will give him the right to travel on the metro completely free of charge until he turns 25.
Such incidents still draw great public attention. In fact, this is not the only case in recent years.
Although childbirth in the metro remains a rare occurrence, news of this event will undoubtedly remain in the memory of many for a long time. Such moments once again highlight life’s unexpected turns and the value of humanity.
